ONGC donated two electric vehicles to Sepahijala sanctuary

As part of its eco-conservation initiative, exploration giant ONGC has donated two electric driven emission-free vehicles for ferrying tourists in the famous destination of clouded leopard and spectacle monkey in Sepahijala Wildlife Sanctuary of West Tripura.
The additional PCCF and Chief Wildlife Warden Dr D K Sharma claimed that it will increase footfall in the sanctuary and also to spread a message among the tourists about green lifestyle and eco-conservation. The Asset Manager of ONGC Tripura G K Singha Roy formally handed over the keys of the Vehicle to Dr D.K. Sharma and claimed ONGC has been dedicated to socio-economic and environmental development of Tripura.
The eco-friendly battery operated vehicles will be plying the tourists from the entrance of the sanctuary to its different parts. These vehicles will also provide some families with livelihood and generate employment in the region. He also informed that his department is planning different strategies to enhance eco-tourism in the state. The two eco-friendly state-of-the-art battery operated vehicles cost around Rs 28 Lakh. (UNI)
