New Delhi Jan 7 (UNI) India won their first-ever Test series on Australian soil as the final Test of the four-match series here at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) ended in a draw on Monday.
President Ram Nath Kovind congratulated the Indian cricket team for creating history in Australia. Mr Kovind took to twitter and wrote, “Congratulations to @imVkohli and his team for reaching one of Indian cricket’s final frontiers and winning a test series in Australia for the first time. Gritty batting, marvellous fast bowling and a fine team effort has done us proud. Let’s make a habit of it! #PresidentKovind
Virat Kohli-led side have become the first Asian team and the fifth overall to win a Test series on Australian soil.
Having won the Tests at Adelaide oval and Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), the number one-ranked Indian Test side clinched the series 2-1.
