Protest demos held against PM's visit to AP

In response to the call given by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party National President N Chandrababu Naidu, protest demonstrations were held across the state by TDP cadres and by Left party activists, on Friday.

Hoardings and flex banners were erected and written as ‘Modi GO back’ in Visakhapatnam, where the Prime Minister will address a public meeting today. However, they were removed by the BJP activists with the help of police.

The Patyeka Hoda Sadana Samithi activists organised a dharna at GVMC, near Gandhi statue in Visakhapatnam demanding the Prime Minister to grant Special Category Status (SCS) to AP and protesting his visit for not honouring AP Reorganisation Act 2014 provisions. Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao, Kidari Shrevan and Ch Ayyanna Patrudu also participated in the protest dharna.

Left party activists led by CPI(M) State Secretary P Madhu and CPI state Secretary K Rama Krishna organised a protest dharna by carrying black flags and empty pots.

In Vijayawada, the Telugu Yuvatha activists led by its leader Devineni Avinash held a protest demonstration. They held black flags and raised slogans demanding SCS to AP. A flex banner written as Modi Go Back was also erected there.

Similar protest demonstrations were also held in Guntur and at other places.
