Rourkela, Feb 6 (UNI) All India Congress President Rahul Gandhi today lambasted Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik dubbing them as liars.Addressing the second rally during his day long visit to the state in the steel city here, Mr Gandhi said both Mr Modi and Mr Patnaik made tall promises but never fulfilled them. Wherever these two leaders are visiting they are telling only lies befooling the people.
The Congress President said, Mr Modi had promised to construct a second bridge over the river Brahamani and to convert the Ispat General Hospital at Rourkela into a super specialist hospital but these were not yet materialized.He said, neither Mr Modi nor Mr Patnaik has provided jobs to unemployed youths as promised by them. The promise to make Sundergarh a centre of excellence of Hockey has not yet been fulfilled.
Mr Patnaik, he said had also promised to establish cold storage in each district of the state but failed to implement his promise.Mr Gandhi said, both Mr Modi and Mr Patnaik are involved in various scams and corruption. While Mr Patnaik and BJD leaders are involved in chit fund scam, the Prime Minister is involved in Rafale scam.He alleged that Mr Modi is running the BJD government in Odisha through remote control from Delhi and the BJD government is doing what the Modi government is dictating.
The Congress President said, Odisha is not poor but the people of the state are poor as the government is looting the people of the state.’ If voted to power the Congress government will set up food processing plants close to the area of production, waive the crop loan of the farmers within 10 days of coming to power, raise the MSP of paddy to Rs 2,600 per quintal and to bring a new land acquisition bill, he said.
As per the proposed bill, land will be acquired from people at four times more than the market rate and if no plant is set up or the land is not used for the purpose within five years of its acquire it would be returned to land owner.Mr Gandhi said the people are disenchanted by the rule of the present BJD government in Odisha and BJP government at the centre.
He expressed confidence that the Congress would defeat both the BJD and the BJP government in the coming election and come to power. Earlier, Mr Gandhi addressed a rally at Bhawanipatna in Kalahandi where he assured that the congress will provide minimum income to all the poor in the country and nobody could prevent it.
