Six masked armed criminals looted around Rs 14 lakh from the Gumadera Branch of Axis Bank at Belpahar in Jharsuguda district at gun point in broad day light today.
Sources said the criminals came in a four wheeler . While two of the criminals stood on guard outside the bank after pulling down the shutter, four others entered the bank. The criminals allegedly opened fire inside the bank, threatened the bank employees and the customers with gun and fled with Rs 14 lakh.
The criminals also attacked a customer and damaged the mobile phones of three customers before fleeing from the spot. Jharsuguda District Superintendent of Police A Mohanty and police personnel rushed to the spot.
