Mumbai, Dec 24: Twitterati on Tuesday paid heartfelt tributes to late singing legend Mohammed Rafi on his 95th birth anniversary.
One fan wrote: “Remembering #MohammedRafi on his 95th birth anniversary. He was widely considered to be one of the greatest and influential singers in the Indian subcontinent. He received six Filmfare Awards and one National Award. He was awarded the Padma Shree in 1967. Tribute to the legend.”
One fan remarked: “It’s a timely reminder to andhbhakts that almost all popular and memorable ‘bhajans’ and ‘deshbhakti’ songs were sung by Rafi Sahib.”
“Celebrating the 95th birth anniversary of the greatest singer ever born. #MohammedRafi,” gushed another fan of the late playback singer.

Rafi was born on December 24, 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh in Amritsar district of undivided Punjab. He died on July 31, 1980, in Mumbai.
