BHUBANESWAR: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik got his first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine here on Monday.
The country-wide vaccination drive for senior citizens and people above aged 45 with comorbidities commenced on Monday.
The CM was administered the Covaxin shot at the Odisha State Assembly Dispensary.
He appealed to all eligible beneficiaries to get the jab. The vaccines rolled out in the State are safe and have no side effects, he assured.
Patnaik conveyed his gratitude to doctors, scientists and healthcare professionals for their race against time to deliver the vaccines to people.
“Happy to share that I took my first dose of #COVID19 vaccine today.
Grateful to our scientists, health workers for their race against time to deliver the vaccines to people.
Appeal to all eligible people to come forward and get vaccinated for a #CovidFreeOdisha,” the Chief Minister tweeted.
The vaccination drive was undertaken at 153 centres, including 21 private hospitals across Odisha.
The government health facilities included Medical College and Hospitals, District Headquarters Hospitals, Sub Divisional Hospitals and some major Community Health Centres.
