Bareilly unit of UP police issues forced retirement to 25 cops

In a first of its kind action in Bareilly range of Uttar Pradesh Police, 25 policemen, including constables and inspectors, were given forced retirement by the authorities.

The action was taken under Rule 56 of UP Police Rules and in compliance with a circular issued by the DG office on Chief Minister’s instructions.

DIG Rajesh Kumar Pandey said here on Monday he has ordered forced retirement of seven sub-inspectors/ inspectors and 18 other policemen of four districts falling in Bareilly range of UP Police.

Mr Pandey said these policemen were above 50 years of age and cases of misconduct were pending against them.

Besides, he said, the cops against whom action was taken were also found to be physically unfit for police job.

The DIG said the forced retirement of these cops would in no way harm the interests as they would get the retirement benefits, including three months salary.
