NEW DELHI: Like a common citizen of the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the All Indian Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here this morning to receive his first vaccine dose against corona virus.

He was the first to lead the Nation in the second phase of the ongoing vaccination drive that covers common citizens after the first phase was meant for the frontline workers.

Modi arrived at the AIIMS around 6.25 am avoiding media glare and inconvenience to the common people at this premiere medical institution of the country.

He was administered the P Niveda, a nurse from Puducherry. The other nurse present during the process was Rosamma Anil from Kerala.

Asked by the media about her interaction with the Prime Minister, Niveda shared that the PM chatted with her and asked from where does she belong to.

After receiving the vaccine, PM remarked, “Laga bhi diya aur pata bhi nahni chala (Already done? I didn’t even feel it).”

Modi received his first dose of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.

On Twitter, the Prime Minister stated, “Took my first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at AIIMS. Remarkable how our doctors and scientists have worked in quick time to strengthen the global fight against COVID-19. I appeal to all those who are eligible to take the vaccine. Together, let us make India COVID-19 free!”
