(UNI) The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Thursday took suo motu cognizance of the molestation incident which reportedly took place in the intervening night of December 21-22 in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) of the Kalwa-based civic hospital of this district.
According to reports, the accused Dinesh Koli(39),who is now under police arrest, worked as a contract-based sweeper at the hospital and last week allegedly tied the hand of a 14-year-old girl undergoing treatment for seizures and sexually assaulted her.
At the time of incident, the accused was sighted by the patient at the next bed and subsequently others pinned down the accused owing to the alarm raised by the minor victim.
As the incident came to light, the hospital management lodged a complaint with the Kalwa Police Station which then booked the accused under section 354 of the IPC along with the relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences(POCSO) Act,2012.
