A young farmer of Podamunda village in Bargarh district today committed suicide by consuming pesticides due to crop failure, his family sources said.
Baishnav Bhue (27), was rushed to the Bargarh district headquarter hospital after he consume pesticide but he could not be saved.
His family members said, Bhue had cultivated vegetables in half an acre of land and made preparation for paddy cultivation in 3.5 acres. But, the paddy cultivation got totally damaged due to scanty rain fall forcing him to commit suicide.
His father Minaketan Bhue said, Baishnav had borrowed Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 for purchasing fertilizers and pesticides.
He had also taken loan from other private sources. But when he saw the crop loss at the beginning of the season, he lost every hope and committed suicide.
But Bargarh District Collector Indramani Tripathy said the suicide has no connection with crop failure since it is not the time for such incident. “There is other reason behind his suicide,” the collector said.
In recent days, the marriage ceremony of his brother was performed and the family has no financial burden, the Collector said.
Police have registered an unnatural death (UD) case and the body has been handed over the family members after post mortem. (UNI)
